Bumpy weekly traffic pattern: The reason for the unusual ‘bumpy’ or ‘spiky’ weekly traffic pattern (also evident in the revenue graphs) is that most colonoscopies are scheduled towards middle-end of the week, and patients spend the start of the week thinking about and preparing for their colonoscopy. Similarly, health support workers only research this information during the week in work hours. This behaviour is directly reflected in the website traffic, with more traffic at the start of the week (Monday-Wednesday) and less traffic from Thursday-Sunday.

Seasonal traffic dips: A temporary dip occurred on the week starting Monday 24 November and continued throughout January, but this was expected as a result of Black Friday, Thanksgiving and Christmas taking people’s attention away from colonoscopy preparation and significantly fewer colonoscopies scheduled during this holiday period. These are temporary seasonal dips, and should be no cause for concern.

Translate website into other languages: Make the website available in other languages, to tap into a more international market (e.g. Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin). Colonoscopy preparation is relevant to anyone in the developed world, and online content on this topic is likely to be sparse in any language. Some website traffic already comes from Singapore and China, so providing a Mandarin translation to grow this audience could be lucrative. There are paid WordPress plugins that are specifically made for translating websites in an SEO-friendly manner (e.g. AIOSEO’s Universally). The eBook could also be translated into other languages, to increase eBook sales revenue.

Expand into post-colonoscopy recovery topics. Currently the website focuses only on colonoscopy preparation; a sensible and easy growth strategy would be to publish a series of articles (15-20 articles) on post-colonoscopy recovery and after-procedure care. The majority of articles on the website are written by Dr Akintomiwa, and it is his presence on the website that gives Clear Colon Diet its medical credibility. Dr Akintomiwa has agreed to have his real professional bio and facial photo displayed on the website, and I have this agreement in writing.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Clear Colon Diet does not have any social media accounts – this is intentional. Clear Colon Diet provides information on colonoscopy which is a sensitive and often embarrassing medical procedure, and most people undergoing colonoscopy do not want to share this over social media. Also, colonoscopy preparation is temporary; people undergo colonoscopy preparation for a week leading up to their procedure, then no longer have need for it.

Instead of social media, it was felt that a website forum would be more appropriate to the target audience – a social space where people can be discreet (even anonymous) and casually drop-in during their colonoscopy prep period then leave immediately afterwards if they wish.

WEBSITE FORUM

A community forum was launched in July 2025. To establish the forum, a 3 month forum launch strategy was implemented during July-October 2025. The launch strategy involved creating a team of ‘ghost users’ (dummy users) discussing a range of topics, to help seed the forum. This is a common strategy for launching new website forums.

All ‘ghost user’ discussions on the forum are AI-generated (ChatGPT); this is the only AI-generated content on the entire website. In addition to these AI-generated ‘ghost user’ discussions (20 forum threads), there are 10 ‘Expert Q&A’ forum posts written by Dr. Akintomiwa. Many of the forum threads are already ranking and receiving organic traffic.

The next phase of the forum is to encourage real users to post on the forum, and monitor forum replies. This could be achieved by making the forum more prominent in articles (e.g. internal links to forum throughout articles), and linking to the forum in sidebar and menus.

I’m an Australian graphic designer and intermediate white hat SEO website developer, and started ClearColonDiet.com in 2021 as a website development project, following the white hat SEO training and instruction delivered by eBusiness Institute Australia.

I came across the topic of Clear Colon Diet (colonoscopy preparation) by chance, when I was required to help a family member prepare for a colonoscopy. I noticed that practical information on this topic was sorely lacking, especially clear liquid diet recipes, so I decided to do it myself. On the Clear Colon Diet website, I go by the pseudonym Christie K. I have a good knowledge of food science and an interest in experimental cooking (I have previously authored a book about industrial food production), therefore clear liquid diet recipes were an interesting challenge for me. As traffic grew I noticed that there was more interest than just recipes, so I continued to build and expand the website to cover colonoscopy preparation in general.

Of all the websites I have built and renovated, Clear Colon Diet is the one I am most proud of and reluctant to sell. The combination of expert-written content, tight visual branding and design, and untapped evergreen niche gives it a huge advantage over many other content websites today, and I am confident that with continued work Clear Colon Diet will continue to grow in traffic and revenue.

However, after much consideration, I’ve decided to leave the world of digital marketing.
